Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager with a passion for youth and family ministry, and a highly creative aptitude for storytelling. This person will work both at the strategic and tactical levels. The Marketing & Communications Manager is a dynamic team member responsible for coordinating our efforts to communicate with supporters while, at the same time, elevating our profile in the community.

Collaboratively, with the Development Team, and under the direction of the Director of Development & Marketing, this position develops a comprehensive communications plan that includes content for donation requests, community partners, and the media. This role will serve as the communications agent consulting with the team to conceptualize an integrated marketing approach in support of all fundraising efforts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Marketing & Communications Manager will:

• In consultation with the Public Relations & Marketing Committee, give insight to establish overall objectives, strategies, and tactics for an integrated public relations/marketing program.

• Serve as primary social media curator and provide digital analytics to measure impact and identify opportunities.

• Serve as primary media relations contact within the organization.

• Research and write press releases and video clips. Maintain a robust media list and distribute information consistently to stay top of mind with media outlets.

• Procure stories by working closely with program staff to celebrate our children and families through various print, social media, and board committees.

• Research and write for Cabbage Patch publications and email communications as well as updating the website and social media pages.
• Collaborate with The Cabbage Patch’s Digital Content Specialist to develop multimedia content for media and constituent communication.

• Serve on Risk Management Team, managing media relations and inquiries in the event of a crisis.

• Coordinate archival materials kept at the Filson Historical Society.

• Work closely with Annual Fund and Special Events Manager to promote
events and maximize exposure.

• Assist with Board orientation and development.

• Update information for accreditation agencies such as the Better Business Bureau as needed.

• Support fundraising events marketing and day-of execution.

• Manage donor recruitment events.

• Proactively seek information from available resources (co-workers, management, volunteers, pro-bono agency, professional colleagues, etc.) to strengthen and improve the overall agencies’ approach to communication.

• Act as internal liaison for specific assigned activities, resulting in positive, productive inter- and intra- departmental team relationships.

• Demonstrate proactive solution-based problem-solving processes on assigned projects.

• Serve as one of the staff PR & Marketing Committee liaisons with the board.

• Serve as a member of the Cabbage Patch leadership team. Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually

2. College degree in field closely related to Communications.

3. Five or more years of experience in Communications, Journalism, or related field.

4. Strong communication skills and exceptional ability to tell a story through persuasive language that elicits emotion (written & verbal).

5. Excellent administrative skills, organizational ability, and attention to details.

6. Must be able to work efficiently and productively under time constraints and meet tight deadlines.

7. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

8. Must have well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and personalities.

9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email marketing software. Experience with donor database software a plus.

10. Excellent photography skills and proficiency with graphic design software.

11. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
