JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Strategist builds the Louisville Water brand with content, campaigns, and creativity. The Strategist uses Louisville Water consumer research and works with a team to develop and deliver communication plans that support a project, a company initiative, or a new opportunity. The Strategist is a storyteller and a creative thinker and an individual who takes the initiative to seize an opportunity to proactively communicate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with a variety of Louisville Water departments to develop and implement communication plans. This can include a customer service initiative, an affordability program, a Small Business Program effort, community outreach events, or employee recruitment campaigns.
Identify audiences, strategies, tactics and write content to support communication plans. Work within the department, across the company and with outside partners to execute and measure results.
Work alongside the Vice President to develop strategy and content for Louisville Water’s economic development efforts. Identify stories and campaigns that highlight the company’s advantages for business development.
Coordinate Louisville Water’s ongoing consumer research with an outside partner; monitor and present analytics and use the data to develop communication plans that strengthen the public’s trust. Identify gaps in research and develop solutions.
Collaborate with peers to identify new and creative ways to build the brand of Louisville Water, its trademarked tap water Louisville Pure Tap® and the Louisville Water Tower. Support existing marketing campaigns for Pure Tap and Louisville Water Tower with creative ideas, writing and attendance at events; part of a team to create new campaigns. Collaborate with external creative partners to develop strategy and campaigns.
Represent Louisville Water to outside partners in developing and executing strategies. This can include meetings and formal presentations.
Member of the department’s crisis response team, providing support with strategy and writing.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time position, 40 hours each work; a hybrid setting with a minimum of three days in the office is required. Position requires travel to Louisville Water facilities and community partners and events. Occasional nights and weekends are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Content, Journalism, or English; and
Five (5) years of experience in writing/storytelling and developing communication plans; and
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing creative communication strategies
Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with technical, complex topics and making them conversational and relevant for a variety of audiences
Experience in creative storytelling (writing and video)
Experience in public speaking; developing presentations and delivering them to groups
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); including the ability to communicate with various internal and external groups.
Strong planning, organizational, people, networking, and relationship skills.
A creative thinker: an individual who loves to learn, brainstorm and identify unique ways to tell a story or build brand equity
Excellent writing skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
