Panelists include Jessica Wethington\, Assistant Director of Public Information with Louisville Metro Emergency Services\, and Scottie Ellis\, Director of Communications for Mayor Craig Greenberg. \nIn her decade-plus with Louisville Metro Government (LMG)\, Jessica has served in communications roles within economic development agencies and the Mayor’s Office. In 2020\, she was part of the Incident Management Team’s (IMT) Joint Information Center (JIC)\, simultaneously communicating the city’s actions and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 100 nights of social justice marches. Jessica has served in the Louisville IMT’s JIC for recent incidents\, including historic flooding in eastern Kentucky\, stranded barges on the Ohio River\, mass casualty incidents\, weather events\, and hazardous materials situations. Before joining LMG\, she worked on a four-year nationwide pharmaceutical campaign in the nonprofit sector. Jessica is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in corporate communications and has completed multiple FEMA courses in public information and disaster management. \nScottie oversees the communication strategy for the Greenberg administration. Prior to this role\, Scottie served as digital communications director and then deputy communications director for Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear during his first term in office. In these roles\, Scottie developed Governor Beshear’s social media strategy and content and directly contributed to the generation of press releases\, audio/visual materials for press conferences\, remarks and more. Scottie played a critical role in crisis communications efforts throughout the pandemic and through multiple natural disasters\, including the deadly tornadoes in western Kentucky and the historic flooding in eastern Kentucky. Scottie has also held communications positions at the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau\, Simon & Schuster Publishing\, and Kentucky Tourism and served in numerous roles at public relations agencies in New York City and Louisville.
